This weekend we have been to York. It is a city both of us visited many years ago but don't know very well at all. We have stayed in a B&B in Clifton & when we arrived yesterday soon discovered we were near the River Ouse & the Clifton Ings which are a large open space very like Port Meadow only five minutes walk.

The main reason for the visit was that Oxford United were playing York today & having seen a 1-1 at Barrow a couple of weeks ago we again saw the U's come away with a point in a 1-1 draw,(no beach balls in this game though!) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8308907.stm
