Today we were back at Cat Bells removing one of the posts we had put up earlier (Thank you Bernie for collecting the rest). We had some rain on the way over but it was dry when we started,
Looking down on Derwent Water
Again all the trees look lovely
Grange Fell
After a gentle start the path then starts to climb steeply. We have a 170m climb to where we put the post but when we got there it had disappeared! Oh well retrace our steps back to the car.
As we were over by Keswick we decided to continue on the A66 to climb another new fell. We parked just outside Lowthwaite. Looking up at Little Mell Fell
As we climb Ullswater comes into view
A panorama of the view & Swinburn's Park Fell
More of Ullswater & a caravan park below
After a short steep climb the trig point comes into view
We had tried to climb this when we did Great Mell Fell (picture) earlier in the year but the cross country route was blocked & we would have had to do a road walk between them. You can see the weather is closing in so instead of lunch here we decide to head back down.
Little Mell Fell (505m)
We make a loop of it & descend on a different path
We wished we had checked the time when we started as it definitely took less than 30mins to summit & descend, it was helped by starting at 383m & only having 120m of climb.
